Alexandre Bompard
Alexandre Bompard is a graduate of the Paris Institute of Political Studies with a degree in Public Law and a postgraduate degree in Economics. He is also a graduate of the ENA, France's national school of administration (Cyrano de Bergerac class).
After graduating from ENA, Alexandre Bompard joined the French General Inspectorate of Finance (1999-2002). He went on to become the technical advisor to François Fillon, then Minister for Social Affairs, Labour and Solidarity (AprilDecember 2003). From 2004 to 2008, he held several positions within the Canal+ Group, notably as Chief of Staff for Chairman Bertrand Méheut (2004-2005) and Director of Sport and Public Affairs (June 2005-June 2008). In June 2008, he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Europe 1 and Europe 1 Sport. In January 2011, Alexandre Bompard joined the Fnac Group where he was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. On June 20, 2013, he launched Fnac’s IPO. In the fall of 2015, Fnac offered to take over the Darty Group and on July 20, 2016 Alexandre Bompard became Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the new entity Fnac Darty.
He is a Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (France). Since July 18, 2017, Alexandre Bompard has been Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Carrefour. In addition, he has chaired the Carrefour Foundation since September 8, 2017.
Alexandre Bompard has also been a director of the Fondation des Sciences Politiques since 2021 and of the Association française des entreprises privées (AFEP) since 2022. He has been Chairman of the Fédération du Commerce et de la Distribution (FCD) since August 202
